About Our Home

We want you to relax and enjoy your stay. Here, you'll find details on how to use appliances and other equipment available at our home.

This is a very unique place because it is off-grid and solar/propane powered, so some of the guidelines pertain to the responsible use/maintenance of the system.

HEATING & COOLING

Please leave the thermostats where they are during your stay.

WINTER

The bedrooms can be warm in the winter, so feel free to crack a window at night as long as the upstairs thermostat is off or set to a very low temp.

Please don’t walk behind the home in the winter since this is where the well line runs (shallow) and any foot traffic will push the frost down into the line.

SUMMER

AC is one of the biggest draws on the system, so please only use when absolutely necessary (preferably just during the afternoon when the solar energy can cover the draw).

Open the window to cool down whenever possible and if using AC, do not turn thermostat below 72.

POWER & ELECTRICITY

When the generator kicks on or off, it can sometimes trigger the septic alarm (will flash red). Feel free to switch the appropriate breaker off then on to fix this. If the alarm goes off without the generator coming on/off, txt us!

Let me know if there is ever a loss of electricity since the generator will occasionally fail to start and it should be an easy fix if we catch it early.

LAUNDRY

The washing machine and/or dryer is located just off of the kitchen.

We should have detergent available for you to use. Let us know if we are short on supplies.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

The upstairs chair-and-a-half pulls out to an additional bed if you need it.
