Parking

Central Canterbury, due to its history is not built for vehicles or parking! Because of the near vicinity of the town centre and railway station most of the area has restrictions.

However there is free unrestricted parking nearby, try Forty Acres Road and / or Pine Tree Avenue. The spaces are clearly marked and start around 120m from the house. Or head past the house, North along Whitstable Road and after a similar distance there are unrestricted spaces and side roads. The beginning of Westgate Court Avenue has parking restricted by time, then after about 200m it is unrestricted. This free parking is about a 4 minute walk to the house.

Do not park on a yellow line or in a bay marked for residents. On a Sunday you can park on a yellow line in Roseacre close, but you risk a ticket after 8am on Monday.

Free parking (restricted by time) is available in St Dunstans Close around the corner in London Road and also in Ramsey Close. You can park there after 4pm over night, but will need to move the car in the morning by 12 - you are allowed to park in the spaces there for four hours, with the restriction starting at 10am, ending at 4pm These restrictions on most spaces do not apply to a weekend but are written clearly on the road signs so please double check in case of changes.

It’s hopefully easier than it probably sounds!
