Clanranald Bothy

Clanranald Bothy and its 'sitooterie', right in the heart of Glenfinnan

All our Bothies have Douglas Fir waney-edged boards inside and out. Even the windows are hand-made. The furniture and tables inside the Bothies were all made to our design. They all have an electric wall heater, wood stove and sheep wool insulation

Cosy sleeping area with double bed in Clanranald. Unlike the other 2 Bothies, Clanranald only sleeps up to 3 guests - 2 in a double bed and one older child/teen/small adult in the fun and quirky 'bothy platform', accessed from the double bed

Clanranald has a playful 'bothy platform' which can sleep older children/teens/small adults. It is accessed by a hand-made ladder from the double bed below. There is a selection of books and 'treasure' for young ones to use during their stay

The en-suite bathroom has a wooden hand basin, compost loo, powerful shower and a large mirror which doubles as both shelving (behind the mirror) and a towel rail

The kitchen counter tops in each Bothy are made from thick slabs of Douglas Fir, and the mug rails are made from copper piping and brass rings used by plumbers. Our teapots are painted by an artisan who lives on a canal boat :)

Wall lights made from Tilley lamps are one of our favourite things in Clanranald. We also leave a stock of eco-friendly washing up liquid/soap and brushes/cloths for you to use. We have a reed bed to treat waste water, so no chemicals please!

Some left-over switches were made into a fun feature at the 'bothy platform' sleeping area for younger guests, we think they will have fun 'switching off' the adults!

Beautiful Clanranald Bothy, at Back Track Bothies in the heart of Glenfinnan. All our Bothies have super-insulating turf roofs and rain chains to drain roof water into whisky barrels. Clanranald is the Bothy right beside the Back Track, a core path

Gorgeous Keppoch Bothy as the light fades and it's time to close out the evening and coorie indoors

We have tried to use as little plastic in the Bothies as possible, choosing metal and (locally sourced) wood instead for less impact on the environment. The kitchens were designed by us and are made from slabs of Douglas Fir

Keppoch Bothy has an 'Ally Up', so you can send up bedtime reading, or a cuddly friend etc to the top bed in this wicker basket

Each Bothy has a draining rack and eco-friendly washing up liquid/washing up soap, whichever you prefer, plus brushes and cloths for washing up - no plastic here! we also provide some eco-friendly cleaner

There are four Adirondack chairs for sitting out at Keppoch Bothy at the corten steel Firepit/BBQ

Glenaladale Bothy

Glenaladale as night falls, cosy up inside or take a seat at the Firepit/BBQ just outside the door

Glenaladale Bothy sits at the top of our wee site, in the trees

The kitchen, designed by us, allows you to lift out and use, or store, the different components, to make the most of the space. All appliances have been chosen for low energy ratings and/or longevity. Eg. the eco-kettle keeps water hot for 4 hours.

Eco-friendly, carbon neutral luxury mattress, organic cotton mattress protectors, butter soft Nour Luxury bedding, recycled plastic bottle pillows, soft bamboo towels, salvaged maritime bedlights, bespoke wooden ladders

Cosy beds with eco-mattresses are perfect after a day's exploring

The compact but well-equipped kitchen with natural wooden slab worktop

Showers are a generous size and lined with tin, with bespoke metal trays, hand-made waxed cotton shower curtains and hot, plentiful Grohe showers. The compost loo is in here too and is a doddle to use

Wooden pedestals, basins and shelves

Quirky cabin interior with one-off features - salvaged maritime lighting, bespoke cladding and seating, organic cotton cushions, 'Ruggable' washable rugs, bespoke wee stove, blackout blinds made from Fairtrade coffee sacks, minimal plastic use

It's all in the detail... we converted Tilley lamps to low-energy bulbs and use them in 2 of our beautiful Bothies

Stargaze or just chill after a hard day on the hill in the Swedish style wood-fired bath, fills in 20 minutes and heats up in about an hour. Bliss
